No justification for Imran`s protest: Muqam

PESHAWAR: Adviser to the prime minister Engr Amir Muqam has criticised Pal(istan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan for observing sit-ins against the federal government and said that after the Supreme Court verdict asking for formation of the joint investigation team to probe the money laundering charge against the premier there was no justification for the protests.

Talking to mediapersons after presiding over a meeting of National Highway Authority here on Tuesday, the PML-N provincial president said a handful of elements wanted to stop developmental works in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said Imran Khan came to KP only for recreation and had nothing to do with the development of the province and progress ofPakhtuns.

He said he had directed the officials concerned to ensure completion of work on the under-construction Takhthhai flyover until May10 to facilitate the motorists. Besides, he said he had directed for preparing feasibility of Bisham-Khwazalchela and Chal(dara-Kalam Expressway at the earliest.

Mr Muqam disclosed that Lowari Tunnel would be completed with an estimated cost of Rs31 billion until end of 2017. He said practical work on the Chakdara-Fatehpur and Bahrain-Kalam roads would also be initiated soon. The government, he said had already approved Malakand Tunnel and Chakdara-Chitral Road with an estimated cost of Rs17 billion to be sponsored by Korean Bank.

The PML-N leader said that Rs30 billion had been approved for changing the Indus Highway into expressway, adding that Rs12 billion had already been approved for Bunnu road. Bureau Report
