The MTV Movie & TV Awards have been cancelled for the second consecutive year. This follows the pause of other major events like the CMT Music Awards and Nickelodeon`s Kids` Choice Awards due toParamount Global`s merger with Skydance Media.

The network is still deciding whether to cancel the show permanently or bring it back next year. The 2023 event aired pre-taped after host Drew Barrymore withdrew in solidarity with striking writers. The first MTV Movie Awards aired in 1992, and TV categories were added in 2017.
