Students handed out certificates on completion of French course

he National College of Arts (NCA) hosted a certificate distribution ceremony on May 22 in collaboration with the French Embassy in Pakistan and Alliance Francaise, Lahore, for students who completed a course in French as a second language.

The one-year initiative gave students an opportunity to learn French as a second language for free at NCA. The certificate ceremony was attended by Dominique Scorby, director of Alliance Francaise, and with greetings from Martine Herlem Hamidi, cultural attaché of the French Embassy.

Herlem-Hamidi originally launched the initiative that was carried forward by Alliance Francaise. NCA hosted the classes as a symbol of support to FrancePakistan friendship and fosterintercultural exchange.

The initiative provides a sound ground for fostering educational ties between the two countries and opens new avenues for students wishing to learn about France and cultural similarities between the two traditions.

NCA Principal Prof Dr Murtaza Jaffri distributed certificates to successful students along with Majid Saeed Khan, Head of the Film and Television Department at NCA.

According to Faiz Ghar, the sum-mer school caters to children between five and 12 years of age from June 15 to July 13.

I he annual thesis and degree show of the graduating batch of Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts and Design of Beaconhouse National University is being held on May 29 at the university`s Tarogil campus.

It will feature thesis work of about 70 graduating students in visual arts, visual communicationdesign, textile and fashion studies and jewellery and accessory design.
