Man feared drowned in canal

KASUR: A man may have drowned who was searching a drowned boy on Monday in the Raja Jang Canal.

Hamad Shafiq, a factory worker at Raiwind, came to the Raja Jang canal for a bath. At the canal, he joined rescuers to trace 14-yearold Husnain who had gone missing in the deep waters of the canal a couple of days back.

Shafiq was swept away by the strong current of canal water. Rescuers were trying to find him.

Also, 15-year-old Sheikh Zaman, of Lahore, drowned in the BRB canal near village Sarhali Kalan. Rescue 1122 divers fished out the body and handed it over to the family after legal formalities.

KILLED: A man was allegedly shot dead by his wifeand son late on Sunday in Kot Radha Kishan.

Police said they were alerted that four gunmen had broken into the house of Muhammad Yasin at Dawani Marla and shot dead Yasin when he put up resistance.

Police were also informed robbers also took away Rs30,000.

Police shifted the body to the Kot Radha Kishan civil hospital for autopsy.

Police interrogated Babar, son of the deceased, and his mother Ruqia Bibi, Kasur District Police Officer (DPO) Rai Baber Saeed said.They confessed to killing Yasin with the connivance of Muhammad Afzal.

The DPO said Yasin had sold his land for Rs8 million and Baber was demanding Rs4.5 million for some business. Police said they had arrested the three accused.
