Consumer courts
2016-05-26
I BOOKED a tablet for delivery by a major courier company in DH A, Karachi, on Feb 24. It was not delivered the next day. We complained immediately via the phone.
They wanted us to complain in writing, which we did. Later, on the phone one of their staff members said that: `One of our staff has stolen it and we are investigating.
Three months have passed but neither have they given us any feedback nor have they replaced our tablet. During this time, we have sent many emails and letters and made many telephone callsall fell on deaf ears.
Where shall I complain? I don`t feel like going to the area police station, as we know that our police only work af ter `due consideration`. I cannot file a case in court as the lawyers` fees will be five to 10 times more than the cost of my tablet. There are no consumer courts in Sindh like there are in Punjab.
Thus, facing a situation of complete helplessness and frustration, we request the Sindh government to establish consumer courts to dispense free justice.
