PESHAWAR: A chartered accountancy student, Rizwan Ali Khan, who has lost 80 per cent of his eyesight, has demanded of the government to extend him financial support so that he could go abroad for treatment and complete his studies.

The 25-year-old student, who belongs to Ali Baig village of Pabbi in Nowshera, told a press conference at Peshawar Press Club that he was a brilliant student, but left the studies halfway due to loss of eyesight.

Flanked by his grandfather Ghani Rahman, the student said that he had undergone several operations, but could not get his eyesight. `I have spent about Rs3.2 million that I could manage on my treatment and now I am unable to continue the treatment,` he said.

The student said that his treatment was possible in the United States, but he needed sponsorship for the purpose. He demanded of the provincial government to extend him financial assistance so that he could move there for his treatment.

Mr Khan said that doctors in several hospitals of Peshawar and Islamabad had advised him to go abroad otherwise he would become completely blind. He said thathisyoungerbrotherhad alsolosthis eyesight because their family could not afford the expenses to send him abroad for treatment. Bureau Report
