Sikh pilgrims offer religious rituals

TAXILA: Over 300 Indian Sikh devotees on Thursday offer their religious rituals in connection with 176th death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Gurdwara Punja Sahib, Hassanabdal on Thursday amid strict security measures.

Besides police, elite force, the contingent of Army also patrol around the Sikh temple.

The Indain Sikh pilgrim under the leadership of party leader Sardar Ram Pal Singh offered their religious rituals here including Mataha Taki, Ashnan and visit to Baba Wall Qandhari hill.

On this occasion, Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) with the help of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) had made arrangements of boarding and lodging for them.

Talking to Dawn, deputy Secretary ETPB Shrines, Syed Faraz Abbass said the government had made elaborate arrangements to ensure provision of maximum facilities to the Sikh pilgrims so they could perform their religious rituals in an amicable manner.

Responding to a question, he said, due to current law and order situation, foolproof security was ensured for them.
