Occupants of state land torture officials

GUJRAT: Illegal occupants of a state land in Sant Pura in Kharian tortured members of an official team during an operation to retrieve the land.

Police registered a case against the people, including a woman, and arrested some of them as well.

Reports said that Kharian Assistant Commissioner Dr Afshan Rubab along with an official team went to the spot to retrieve 10 kanals and six marlas of state land which is owned by the Red Crescent Society.

But the of ficial team had to face the wrath of a family, including women, who hurled abuses and threats on the AC and her team besides attacking them.

Theteamfinallyretrieved the land and immediately started constructing a free dispensary to be run by the Red Crescent Society. An expatriate residing in the same village will bear the expenditures of the medical facilities.

Meanwhile, a case waslodged against the 10 nominated attackers under sections 502, 186, 148, 149, 353 and 427 ofthe PPCon the report of Naib Tehsildar Muhammad Afzal.

EVALUATION TABLE: A joint committee, comprising officials of the district government and the association of real estate agents, has completed its survey to review the earlier evaluation table of the property rates in the district issued by the land revenue department.

A meeting of committee members was held with Gujrat DCO Liaquat Ali Chatha at the District Council Rest House where recommendations of the committee were discussed and it was decided to introduce new rates of commercial, residential and agricultural properties in the district.

The locals as well as the association of property dealers had raised many objections on the scheduled rates introduced by the land revenue department and called for a review upon which a committee was formed.
