LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has decided to challenge the new local government law in the court and launch a protest campaign against it.
“The PML-N has introduced the law wherein power will remain with the bureaucracy,” PTI leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed said.
Speaking at a news conference here on Saturday, he said the PML-N government had completely removed the village and Panchayat councils, which was a matter of grave concern.
Answering a question, Mr Rasheed said the PTI could not get the local government law passed because of the opposition and added that almost 90pc clauses of the law were agreed upon between the PTI government and the opposition. The PML-N now got the new local government law passed within half-an-hour, he said.
