LAHORE: The Pakistan Railways has made an offer to the petroleum ministry to transport oil through its dedicated rolling stock and locomotives in the wake of a strike by tanker owners.
Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique contacted Petroleum Minister Shahid Khagan Abbasi on Tuesday and offered the services to transport oil across the country.
`To deal with the strike of the oil transporters, the railways is ready to transport oil across the country as it has extra rolling stock and locomotives,` Mr Rafique said.
Railways spokesman Najam Wali told Dawn that the minister had also asked Senior General Manager Javed Noor to have a meeting with the officials concerned of the petroleum ministry and finalise the modalities in case both ministries agreed on the proposal.
