Explosives, arms seized in Bajaur

KHAR: Security forces on Tuesday claimed to have foiled a sabotage attempt by recovering a big quantity of explosives, suicide jackets and ammunition in Bajaur Agency’s Mamond tehsil.
According to a statement issued by the Bajaur Scouts in Khar, the weapons and explosives were recovered in the hilly Dawagi area during a search operation conducted by the personnel of Frontier Corps with the support of local people.
It added that the seizure included three suicide jackets (full of explosives), one remote-controlled bomb, three kilogrammes of explosives, one RPG rifle, three Russian-made hand grenades, 11 packets of ball bearing, three pistols, one walkie-talkie, four chargers, three knives, one radio set, one searchlight, three pair of shoes, four books on explosives and bomb-making materials.
The statement said that the operation was carried out following information given by the local people about the presence of explosives and weapons in the area. It claimed that the explosives were intended to cause destruction.
According to the statement, the action was part of the Raddul Fasaad operation, which was aimed at ridding the country of weapons and anti-state elements.
