KARACHI: A man was killed and his wife wounded in an attack linked with their free-will marriage in Baldia Town on Monday, police said.

They said that Asad Qasim, 35, was stabbed to death and his wife, Maria, 30, also suf fered injuries.

The police said Maria`s brother, Deedar, was allegedly involved in the murder of his brother-in-law.Ittehad Town SHO Zamir Ahmed Khuhawar said the couple tied the known of their own free will around three years ago in district Khairpur. The victim was working as a labourer in the metropolis. The couple had one child.

The SHO said the suspect, who had been living with his sister, stabbed his brother-in-law and injured his sister in night and fled.

The crime scene unit has collected evidence from the spot.

The dead and injured were shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi.
