SAHIWAL: Kalyana police of Pakpattan district registered a murder case of a minor boy against unidentified person/s after he succumbed to his injuries at the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital on Friday.

On Thursday, at approximately 5pm, Irshad Bibi, a resident of Karmainwala Chowk, Pakpattan, went out to purchase groceries, leaving her only son, fourand-a-half-year-old Muhammad Ahmed, in the care of neighbourhood children who were playing in the street adjacent to her house.

On her return at around 6pm, she could not find Ahmed outside and assumed that he must be inside the house.

While searching the premises, she entered a room and found Ahmed severely wounded, bleed-ing from a deep neck injury. Somebody had slit his throat with a sharp blade.

Her cries alerted the neighbours, Arshad and Amin, who helped her shift her injured child to District Headquarters Hospital, Pakpattan. Due to his critical condition, the doctors referred him to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospitalwhereheexpired at 1:50am on Friday.

Kalyana police registered a murder case on the complaint of Irshad Bibi.

District Police Officer Javed Chadhar said they were awaiting the postmortem report, which would determine whether sexual assault preceded the murder.

The police are currently tracing movements of individuals seen in the area between 4pm and 6pm. Correspondent
