Donkey, horse meat seized

LAHORE: The city government teams on Tuesday raided different spots in the city and seized a huge quantity of dead animals` meat, including that of donkeys and horses.

According to officials, a team aided by police raided Kotli Ghai locality in Harbanspura and seized 300kg of dead donkeys and horses meat. Police arrested three men involved in the crime.

During preliminary investigation, the accused confessed to supplying dead horses and donkeys` meat in Gulberg area. Another raiding party headed by Food Minister Bilal Yaseen seized tones of dead chicken meat in TollintonMarket. The team reportedly got some people arrested.

In Ravi Town area, the PFA team sealed Danish, Jhoolay Lal and Haq Bahoo Qulfi Units, Sheikh Sweets, Haidri Store, Sakhawat Store, Shahi Qulfi, Bilal Juice Corner and Subhani Food in Shahdara.

The team also had six employees of Subhani Foods Unit arrested for offering resistance besides registering a case against the owner. In Data Ganj Bakhsh Town, it visited the Anarl(ali area and sealed Hamza Restaurant, Amjad KhanHotel, Rana Ji Restaurant, Zia Sindhi Biryani, Al-Mashhoor Ameen Khoay Channay. On The Mall, it sealed Amjad General Store and Mama Latif Paan Shop and imposed fine on the KFC.

Nishtar Town team imposed fine on Crees Shwarma Bread Production Unit and Al-Mecca Milk Shop in Township area whereas Iqbal Town team sealed KM Foods on the Multan Road.

Wagah Town team sealed Bismillah Bakery on the GT Road and imposed fine on Hafiz Sweets Laal Khuh near Jallo Morr. The team in Aziz Bhatti Town sealed Butt Murgh Chanay in Taj Bagh Scheme.

According to officials, the sealed premises would be de-sealed after seven days subject to gravity of theoffence.

PUSHCART: Various educational institutions, including the University of Engineering and Technolgoy (UET) and National College of Arts (NCA) presented model of the state-of-the-art pushcarts for the roadside vendors in a meeting presided over by the commissioner.

The commissioner appreciated the work, requesting the participants to finalise one model by Sept 2 in order to introduce and launch new pushcarts project in Lahore.

Meanwhile, another meeting reviewed the pace of work on various development schemes in Dubbanpura locality, near Sabzazar on the Multan Road, and asked the officials to complete them within a month.
