Two revenue officers suspended for bogus report on dead animals

GUJRANWALA: The Punjab local government secretary on Thursday suspended from service the Hafizabad district officer community (DOC) and the town officer revenue (TOR) and ordered an inquiry against nine secretaries of union councils for submitting a bogus report for the death of animals in floods.

Reports said that Hafizabad DOC Asif Javed and TOR Ikramullah prepared a report about the loss of animals during floods with the coordination of nine secretaries of UCs.

In their report submitted to higher authorities they claimed that at least 338 animals died or swept away in the flood. The local government secretary got conducted an inquiry which revealed the loss of only three animals in the flood in Hafizabad. The secretary declared the report of senior revenue officers bogus, suspended them from service and ordered an inquiry against nine secretaries of UCs.

Gujranwala local government director Shehzad Hameed inducted district officer community Altaf Jug as an inquiry officer and directed him to submit a report tohim within a fortnight.

The inquiry officer issued notices to suspended revenue officers and secretaries of UCs.

APPROVED: A meeting of the district development committee approved on Thursday 119 development projects at a cost of Rs219 million.

The meeting was presided over by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Azmat Mehmood while senior officers of various government departments and parliamentarians attended it. The meeting was told that about a dozen rundown buildings of various schools would be reconstructed while basic facilities would be provided in 83 schools.

The DCO urged the works department to complete the development schemes within the stipulated period.

KIOSKS: The regional tax office established 15 kiosks in the region to facilitate tax payers and issued a notification here on Thursday.

The kiosks were set up by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) under the supervision of Chief Commissioner Mansoor Ahmad while Additional Commissioners Inland Revenue Waqas Aslam, Abdul Malik and Khalig Farooq Mian would coordinate him.
