Waris Shah`s urs concludes

SHEIKHUPURA: The three-day 216th Urs of Punjabi poet Pir Waris Shah concluded on Thursday in Jandiala Sher Khan, 15 kilometres from Sheikhupura.

The celebrations lacked the traditional hustle and bustle because of flooding and an uncertain political situation in the country.

District Coordination Officer Ali Jaan washed the grave with rose water and laid a floral wreath on the shrine. Several people tool< part in a competition for the recitation of Heer verses. Tight security measures were adopted by the district police.

KILLED: A landlord allegedly beat and killed a man, 25, in village Ajnianwala on Thursday. Landlord Iftikhar Ahmed exchanged words with Asif, also his tenant, whose cattle had trespassed on his fields.

The landlord started beating Asif and her sister with an iron rod. They sustained injuries and were shifted to hospital where Asif succumbed to his injuries. The family of Asif and other area people protested against the murder and demanded that police arrest the killer.
