Three held for cutting man`s nose over extortion row

SAHIWAL: A man allegedly cut the nose of a youth while five others suffered injuries during a clash over extortion (bhatta) dispute in Arifwala, 45km from here, on Tuesday.

Witnesses said a scuffle erupted between Rana Qudratullah and Rana Mujahid groups over percentage of share in extortion. They would extort money from drivers and conductors of air-conditioned buses which stopped at Kumharainwala Chowl( in the town.

On Tuesday, Qudrat, Haseeb Ahmed and Abdual Ghaffar overpowered Mujahid and allegedly cut his nose with a knife while five men from both sides suffered injuries.

Arifwala City StationHouse Officer Shahzad Gul said police registered a case under sections 324 and 334 of PPC on the complaint of Mujahid (27) and arrested three suspects. Two of the injured Nadeem and Farooq were shifted to THQ hospital.

DEMOTED: An assistant sub-inspector of Okaainwala police station was demoted to the rank of head constable for registering a fake case.

The district police officer demoted ASI Jaffar Hussain after an inquiry found him guilty of registering a fabricated case on Aug 29, 2018.

The case was registered against four men Muhamad Ikram, Muhammad Aslam, Amin and Yasin.

The suspects after getting bail from lower court had submitted an application to DPO for an inquiry.
