SIALKOT: The administration could not plug on Tuesday a 50-foot wide breach in the embankment of the flooded Nullah Dek, which also swept away three small bridges on the water channel near village Ooncha Pahaarang on Monday.
The collapse of bridges has cut off 23 villages from Sialkot district areas.
Gujranwala Commissioner Asadullah Faiz and Sialkot Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Tahir Wattoo visited the flood-hit areas in Pasrur tehsil on Tuesday. They asked the administration to ensure the early repair of breaches and reconstruction of bridges.
The commissioner also reviewed emergency relief activities in the flood-hit areas near Head Marala, Chaprar and Pasrur. The administration has set up four emergency relief centres in the district.
Also, the flood water level receded in the River Chenab to52,000 cusecs from overnight`s 112,000 cusecs at Head Marala on Tuesday.
On Monday, the River Chenab remained in low level flood after India released late on Sunday a peak of 150,000 cusecs flood water in the Chenab after a spell of heavy rainfall in the catchment areas.
The deputy commissioner said the flood water was also receding in the River Tavi and Nullah Dek.
He said the administration had issued a flood warning to the areas along the banks of rivers Chenab and Tavi.
BODY: The body of Motrabased Ali Hassan (11) was found in the Marala-Ravi-Link Canal near Motra-Daska on Tuesday.
Farmer Muhammad Aslam`s son had been missing for the last 13 days. The police said some unidentified people beat him to death and threw his body into the canal.
The police handed over the body to the family after autopsy.
KASUR: Hundreds of acres were submerged in village Balanwala after India releasedwater into a seasonal nullah drain on Tuesday.
The border village was discon-nected from adjacent villages.
The district administration started relief operation.The nooding inundated hundreds of acres. Also, water level in the River Sutlej was rising.
