Iesco cheating

2023-09-26
UNFORTUNATELY, the electric power distribution companies (Discos), instead of plugging electricity theft, have been involved in organised cheating by manipulating the monthly bills, shifting the units consumed in one month to the next month. The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) charged me only 24 units for the month of July against my average consumption of 300-400 units, and the bill was without the picture of meter reading because the Iesco management knew that the tariff was going to be hiked from Aug 1 and the accumulated units of two months would fetch more money.

As expected feared, rather the bill for the month of August charged my 914 units with added income tax and enhanced tariff even of the units that were consumed in the preceding month.

As a law-abiding, but unprotected citizen, all I could do was to file a complaint with the federal complaint cell at the power division (No. 422294; Aug 12) which is yet to be responded to.

Someone has to tell public service departments and organisations to serve the public who pay for their salaries.
