KARACHI: Police on Monday launched a probe into Sunday’s murder of a Pakistan Navy employee and his two-year-old daughter and found that they were killed by robbers in Korangi.

Tahir Zaman, 25, and his daughter, Anum, 2, were shot dead by unidentified assailants near Chamra Chowrangi within the remit of the Korangi Industrial Area when they were heading home from Seaview on a motorcycle.

Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed said the girl had received a single bullet wound in the abdomen and her father sustained three bullet wounds in the neck and chest.

On Monday, victim’s brother Fazl Rehman lodged an FIR under Section 302 (premeditated murder), 393 (attempt to commit robbery) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against two unknown persons.

The complainant said that his brother, who was an employee of the Pakistan Navy, had taken his infant daughter to Seaview for an outing. As they were returning home, unidentified armed robbers shot at and wounded them. They were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors had pronounced them dead on arrival, he said. —Staff Reporter
