Honey-trap gang busted in Bhalwal

SARGODHA: The Bhalwal City police claimed on Friday to have busted a honey-trap gang and arrested three suspects.
According to a police spokesperson, during an ongoing campaign against social crimes on the instructions of DPO Taugir Muhammad Naeem, Bhalwal City SHO Hasnat Ahmed, along with a team, arrested three members of a honey-trap gang.
He claimed the main suspect identified as Bushra, along with her associates Fauzia and Shahram, used to invite citizens to their homes under various pretexts, including offers of friendship or to order things.He claimed that when the victim reached the home, the suspects took them hostage and took away their valuables, including cash and mobile phones, by threatening them with serious consequences and filing a false adultery case.
The police registered a case and said that legal action was being taken against them as per the law.
ACCIDENTS: A series of traffic accidents left five people dead and two others seriously injured.
In one incident, three persons, including two women, lost their lives on the SargodhaKhushab Road when a motorcycle carrying three passengers lost control while crossing the Jhelum River Bridge inShahpur. The riders fell onto the road and were crushed under a passing tractor. The deceased were residents of Mitha Tiwana.
In another incident near the Chowki Bhagat 23 Mor Road, the brakes of a speeding truck failed and it rammed into another truck resulting in the instant death of a citizen, while two others were injured.
Mohsin Riaz (30), a resident of Jhang`s Sufi Mor, died at the scene, while Samar Jawar (17) and Shahid Riaz (40) sustained injuries and were shifted to the hospital.
In a separate incident, a young student was killed on the Bhera-Miani-Malakwal Road after a speeding passenger coaster rammed into his motor-cycle. The deceased was identified as Abdul Magsat, an intermediate student.
OVERCROWDED JAIL: The Sargodha District Jail is currently operating at more than double its official capacity, housing1,645 prisoners against a sanctioned capacity of 730.
These details were shared by Jail Superintendent Khan Waheed Khan during a media briefing on Friday.
The superintendent outlined several initiatives that he said were aimed at improving the living conditions inside the facility.
He said the inmates were now supplied with clean water for both drinking and bathing, the jail hospital had undergone significant upgrades, and a newly-constructed kitchen facility was now operational.
He said a new welfare store had been established inside the jail where families could deposit money at a dedicated counter, allowing prisoners to purchasefood andbeverages at standard market rates.
He said that construction was ongoing of a park within the jail premises where visiting family members could meet their in custody loved ones in a better environment.
The superintendent said that regular educational programmes, including those of vocational training and religious education, were being provided to help prisoners transition into productive citizens of society upon their release.
