KARACHI: Two alleged gangsters were shot dead in an ‘encounter’ in the Kalakot area of Lyari on Sunday night, police said.

A police party conducted a search operation in the area where they came under an attack, the police said. In the ensuing encounter two suspected gangsters were killed.

The deceased were identified as Ayub, alias Kana and Zeeshan, alias Pathan, said to be members of Baba Ladla’s gang.

City SSP Fida Hussain Janwari said that Ayub was the ringleader of the gang.

“They were wanted in over two dozen cases of targeted killing, over 50 cases of grenade attacks on political gatherings and cracker attacks for extortion,” he said.
