RAWALPINDI: President Yahya Khan indicated here today [Oct 25] he would soon give out his own proposals to provide a constitutional basis for holding general elections in the country. Replying to newsmen`s questions at the airport before his departure for Karachi this evening en route to Iran, the President said `The time is approaching very fast for me to say something`.
He said he would stick to the time schedule of 12 to 18 months for holding the elections announced by him in his broadcast to the nation on July 28.
Asked if he would like to call a conference of political leaders to discuss the issues with them, the President referred to the remark he had made in reply to a similar question at Dacca: `Would they like to meet me?` The President said he was `not aware` when a correspondent pointed out that several political leaders from Pakistan were presently gathered in the cool climate of London. `It is not cool but very cold there,` he said. ...
