T HE Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences has received over 4,700 dog bite cases, including over 3,600 adults and 1,100 children, a majority of whome were bitten by stray dogs.
In this part of the world, dog bite is a major cause behind most rabies which is f atal for animals and humans alike. At government hospitals across the country there is a severe shortage of the anti-rabies vaccination. Treatment at private hospitals can cost upto Rs72,000. The government should come up with a humane solution to thisissue.
