PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman and Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Monday inaugurated upgradation of the Warsak pump house in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber tribal district.

They also opened two new pumps under the rehabilitation project of the Warsak canal system.

Relevant officials informed the chief minister and the governor that the remaining three pumping units would be installed by March 2022, according to a statement issued here.

On completion, all the units would discharge 290 cusecs water into the Warsak canal system that would provide water to Och Nehr in all seasons.

Speaking on this occasion, Governor Shah Farman said Och Nehr had been without water for past many decades due to which thousands ofacres ofland had turned barren. However, he said upgradation of the existing pump house and installation of new ones would help irrigate the barren land, thus bringing prosperity to the area.

Secretary irrigation Nizamuddin, Peshawar division commissioner Riaz Mehsud, the Khyber deputy commissioner and irrigation department officials were also present.
