Bomb goes off in Swabi SWABI, Nov 25: Several shops were damaged when an explosive device went off at Laiqat market in main Swabi bazaar on Monday.

DPO Sajjad confirmed the blast, saying the BDU personnel and police reached the site and started investigation. He said no loss of life or property was reported.

Local residents said unknown miscreants had planted IED at the market owned by Shahram Khan Tarakai, chairman of Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan, which went off with a big bang at 9pm. As a result, several shops were damaged.-Correspondent Tribesman shot dead MIRAMSHAH, Nov 25: One person was killed and three others were wounded in a clash between two warring tribes in Spinwam subdivision of North Waziristan on Monday.

The tribal lashkar intervened to secure ceasefire as the fighting continued for over six hours. Both sides used light and heavy weapons against each other damaging several houses.

The clash erupted over a disputed piece of land in Spinwam. Both the warring tribes -Shaeri Turikhel and Saifli Kabalkhel had set up bunkers for the last three months against each other as differences over the land emerged between them.

The situation turned violent after both sides opened fire on each other with heavy weapons. As a result one person whose name was yet to be ascertained was killed and three others, including a woman, got critical injuries.

The tribal elders and ulema urged the political administration to find out a viable solution to the issue.Correspondent PPP to devise plan for LB polls PESHAWAR, Nov 25: Pakistan People`s Party, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will hold a meeting here on Wednesday to devise a strategy for reorganisation of the party in the province.

PPP provincial president Khan Zada Khan on Monday directed all the sister organisations of the party to observe the foundation day of PPP on Nov 30 in their respective districts and ensure participation of all the workers in the functions.

He was talking to a delegation of People`s Students Federation here. Mr Khan asked the office bearers to complete organisational structure within two weeks and submit report to him.

About the party`s future plans regarding reorganisation, local bodies` elections and replacement of some office-bearers, he said all the matters would be discussed in the Wednesday`s to be held at the residence of Anwar Saifullah Khan.

The PSF delegation was led by provincial president Malik Amjad and information secretary Fahim Khattak.-Bureau Report Paramedics threaten protest TIMERGARA, Nov 25: The local paramedical association on Monday announced to observe complete boycott of work if their charter of demands was not implemented without delay.

The announcement was made during a protest camp held at the DHQ hospital Timergara. The district development advisory committee chairman Muzafar Syed, JI press secretary Malik Sher Bahadar and former president of the paramedics` association Mohammad Aman also attended the camp.

Provincial vice president of the paramedics` body Saadat Khan assailed the successive governments for failing to resolve their problems. He said their demands included approval of timescale, promotion to grade 12, health provincial allowance, and registration with the Health Regulatory Authority.

Meanwhile, ANP spokesman Senator Zahid Khan on Monday inaugurated the Dushkhel feeder at Saddo here.

Addressing the function on the occasion, Mr Khan said the feeder was completed at Rs7.8 million.-Correspondent Varsity appoints new dean MARDAN, Nov 25: Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan on Monday appointed Professor Jehanzeb Khalil as the dean faculty of arts, according to a notification.

Previously, he was working as chairman department of political science in Hazara University, Mansehra. He has also been the member of Textbook Board, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Professor Khalil did his PhD on `Independence Movement`. He has also authored a book published from Germany. He compiled over 100 books in Textbook Board.

He has also been member of the board of graduate studies and board of studies, Islamia College Peshawar.

Being chairman department of political science, he had the honour of organising multiple national and international seminars and workshops at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan.-Correspondent Man found dead MARDAN, Nov 25: Body of a man hailing from Mohmand Agency was recovered from Fatima locality here on Monday.

Jabbar police station officials said they recovered the body in the fields of Fatima area. They said the body bore bullet marks. They said the victim was identified as Wali Khan.-Correspondent
