Alleged killer of customs officer arrested

ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested a person allegedly involved in murdering a customs officer, a police spokesperson said.

He said the body of Deputy Superintendent Customs Mohammad Abrar had been found on Japan Road in the area under Lohi Bher police station on November 17.

A special team was formed to track down the killer, which arrested him from Gujar Khan.

A police officer, not authorised tospeak on the record, said the slain customs officer was the brother-inlaw of the alleged killer and that further investigations will be carriedout after securing a physical remand of the suspect.

`Investigations so far have revealed that there was a monetary dispute between the men, and the telephone records of the suspect show that he was with the deceased before his death,` the officer added.

In a separate case, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of theIslamabad police have arrested an offender who was wanted by the police in a murder case.

According to police sources, a resident of Mira Islamabad allegedly opened fire on Zubair and Syed Monis Raza on Ladhito Road on November 26 last year. Zubair had later succumbed to his injuries.

An SIU team headed by SP Investigations Mohammad Ilyas arrested Asif and further investigations into the case are underway.
