KARACHI: A judicial magistrate remanded on Saturday a bus driver in police custody in a case pertaining to the 1(illing of a five-year-old schoolgirlin atrafHcaccident.
The investigating officer produced suspect Mohammad Saleem before a judicial magistrate (South) and sought his custody to arrest the driver of another bus. The magistrate handed the suspect over to police on two-day physical remand.
The girl, Sakeena, along with her father was on the way to school when one of the two buses involved in the deadly race on main M.A. Jinnah Road on Nov 24 knocked their motorcycle down. The recklessly driven bus did not stop and ran over the girl.
A case was lodged under Sections 320 (unintentional murder for rash negligent driving), 337-G (punishment for hurt by rash or negligent driving), 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 34 (common intention) of Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim`s father at Preedy police station.
