TAXILA: A man and his mother were shot dead by unknown assailants in Bodoo Village in the limits of Wah Cantonment police station in the early hours of Sunday.

Quoting witnesses, the police said two masked men came to the house of Haseeb Ayub around dawn when Haseeb, 43, and his mother Saleema Bibi, 71, were preparing for Fajr prayers.

As Saleema opened the door, the assailants opened fire on her, killing her on the spot.

On hearing the gunshot, Haseeb scaled the wall and tried to flee but the attackers intercepted him in the nearby fields and shot him dead.

The police mobile forensic lab was called from Rawalpindi which collected evidence from the crime scene. Later the bodies were handed over to the relatives for burial after autopsy at THQ Hospital.

Wah Cantonment police have registered a double murder case against the unknown assailants and started investigation. — Correspondent
