LAHORE: Jamaat-iIslami Secretary-General Liaquat Baloch has expressed concern at the incidents of forced conversions in some Indian states and has called upon the Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan to explain the position of New Delhi on this issue.

In a letter addressed to Indian High Commissioner Dr AC Raghawan, the JI leader said Indian news channels and newspapers as well as the international media were abuzz with reports of forced conversions of the Muslims and Christians in India which was not only a gross violation of the basic human rights charter and also the Constitution of Indian Republic.

He saw the hand of the extremist Hindu parties and groups behind these forced conversions and that the people of Pakistan were deeply perturbed over the reports.

He demanded that the world`s largest democracy explain its position.
