MANSEHRA: The home department has asked the administration of Mansehra to produce the details of Afghan refugees and their moveable and immoveable assets in the district.

`We are not only collecting the particulars of Afghan refugees living across our district but also, we are trying to know about the properties owned by them,` assistant commissioner Moez Sanaullah told reporters here on Tuesday.

The official said the data of Afghan refugees, who left Pakistan but returned to refugee camps in Barari, Ichrian, Khaki and other areas, was being collected.

He said all the information about Afghans and their assets would be submitted to the government within a week.

Meanwhile, 12 venders were arrested for not removing encroachments in the city and adjoining areas despite getting warning.

The crackdown was carried by a team of the district department, Tehsil Municipal Administration and police led by Khurramur Rehman.

The team also removed encroachments from outside shops and plazas on Abbottabad Road, Kashmir Road and Shinkiari Road outside shops and plazas.

INJURED: Five people suffered critical injuries when a car plunged into a ravine in Bhonja area of Balakot tehsil on Tuesday.

The car bound for Balakot from Bhonja skidded off the road when driver Mohammad Babu lost its control while negotiating a sharp turn.

The locals shifted the injured to the Balakot civil hospital, whose doctors referred three of them to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad, due to critical condition.

The police registered a case and began investigation to ascertain the exact cause of accident.

BY-ELECTION: Former provincial minister Ahmad Hussain Shah has announced that he will contest the upcoming by-election in the PK-30 constituency here.

`I am going to file nomination papers within a day and if you elect me, I will end your deprivations,` he told a public meeting in Kaghan area on Tuesday.

The seat had fallen vacant three months ago when the Supreme Court disqualified PML-N MPA Mian Ziaur Rehman for holding a fake degree.
