Power outages protested in Mohmand

GHALANAI: Excessive power outages have baldly affected routine life in the Mohmand tribal district, the local residents complained on Tuesday.

Residents of Atta Kaka Kor, Kodakhel, Mazreena, Babi Kor, Koz Ghandahb, Essakhel, Burkhankhel and Atokhel held meetings in their respective localities and demanded of the authorities to end unjustified electricity loadshedding in the tribal district.

They complained that over 20 hours of loadshedding had stressed them out in winter.

They pointed out that there were no Wapda linemen in the border areas to fix the faults, which weredone by locals on self-help basis.

The residents said the power outages had caused acute water shortage and affected businesses, particularly those running on electricity.

Pm almost out of work due to the prolonged and unscheduled loadshedding, Fayyaz Khan, a tailor, said.

He added that many youth associated with the profession had been laid off by the owners due to a slump in the business.

Tribesmen from Khwezai, Safi, Haleemzai, Pandiali and Ambar demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor to order the authorities concerned to end the prolonged power outages in the tribal district without delay, or they would protest.done by locals on self-help basis.
