`Two TTP militants killed in encounter`

KARACHI: Two alleged militants were shot dead in an `encounter` on the outskirts of the metropolis late on Wednesday night, officials said on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, the Pakistan Rangers Sindh and the police carried out raids at Abbas Cut on Northern Bypass near Gulshan-i-Maymar where an encounter ensued in which two suspected militants were killed, claimed Gulshan-i-Maymar SHO Mir Mohammed Lashari.
The officer claimed to have seized two sub-machine guns from the deceased.
On Thursday, the deceased were identified as Farooq Jamal, alias Wajid affiliated with outlawed Tehreek-iTaliban Pakistan (TTP) and Sufaid Khan, alias Nasir linked with Tehreelei-Taliban Swat (T TS).
According to a Rangers official, Farooq joined TTP Jameel, alias Jamraiz group in 2012.
He got militancy training, including training in preparing improvised explosive devices from TTP`s Talha centre in Tirah valley.
The Rangers claimed that he was involved in terror incidents, bomb attacks on schools and extortion.
The other deceased militant, Sufaid Khan, joined the TTS in 2006. He was involved in an attack on an army camp in Swat in which one soldier had died.
