WASHINGTON: A congressional critic of the Defence Department said today [Jan 26] the Pentagon apparently was still stockpiling germ warfare weapons even though President Ford said the entire supply had been destroyed. Wisconsin Democrat Les Aspin said he had discovered that the Defence Department still listed biological agents in its catalogue of supplies.

`Stockpiling biologicals is a clear violation of treaty commitments,` Mr Aspin said. `It would mean also that the Administration has been lying to Congress.` The [US] and the [USSR] signed a 1972 biological warfare convention that outlawed development, production or stockpiling of germ warfare weapons. News agencies [Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Baghdad,] Arab jurists have called on Arab states ... to take the necessary steps to `blow up oil installations and destroy all imperialist interests` if the American threat to occupy Arab oil wells materialised. ... The jurists also asked Arab countries to nationalise foreign oil companies, free Arab economy from foreign domination and place oil ... revenues in the service of socio-economic development ... and for extending assistance to states supporting just Arab causes.
