Outlaw killed in `encounter`

SAHIWAL: An alleged outlaw was killed in a police encounter, while his two accomplices fled under the cover of darkness near Thatha Manzoor Khan in Pakpattan on Tuesday night.

According to the Saddar police, the outlaw was shot dead in firing by his accomplice.

Reports stated a mobile police squad received emergency calls about three dacoits looting villagers by setting up a makeshift checkpoint near Abadi Qadirabad.

Qaboola and Saddar police rushed to the scene. On spotting the police, the dacoits attemptedtoflee,leading to a chase and an exchange of fire near Thatha Manzoor Khan.

The shootout lasted 15-20 minutes, after which the police found the body of the deceased outlaw, a motorcycle and a 30-bore pistol in nearby fields.

Efforts are underway to establish his identity.

This is the second encounter in the pastseven days where an outlaw was killed by the firing of his own accomplices.

Police registered a case against the two fugitives under PPC sections 302, 353, 324, 186, and Section 13(2)(a) of The Punjab Arms Amendment Ordinance 1985, on a complaint lodged by Inspector Khaiser Hayat of Q aboola Police Station, Pakpattan.

ACCIDENT: A young man was killed and his father critically injured after being hit by a speeding trailer on the National Highway near Ada Gamber on Wednesday morning.

Eyewitnesses reported that Khursheed (18) and his father, Muhammad Aslam, were standing by the roadside when a heavy trailer ran them over. Khursheed died on the spot, while his father was critically injured and shifted to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital by Rescue 1122.

Yousafwala police have registered a case against the driver under PPC sections 320, 337, and 279 on the complaint of the injured father.
