Roads blocked in Hazara as no let-up in snowfall

MANSEHRA: The upper parts of Hazara division continued to receive snowfall and heavy downpour for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures.

Snowfall, which began on Tuesday, persisted throughout the second day in Kaghan, Siren and Konsh valleys and hilly areas of Mansehra as well as Kandia and Spat valley in Kohistan.

The ongoing snowfall also blocked link roads in the mountainous areas including Kaghan, Siren and Konsh valleys, adding to the miseries of locals.

Police have deployed personnel and taken all necessary measures to prevent tourists from entering the snowbound areas of Kaghan Valley.

Meanwhile, Kaghan Development Authority has started clearing the road connecting Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad route with Shogran.

In addition, the upper parts of Hazara division including Mansehra, Torghar, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, and Kolai-Palas continued to receive heavy rainfallfor the second consecutive day.

The rain, which began on Tuesday, continued intermittently throughout the day.

In South Waziristan Lower, snowfall on mountainous areas and rain in plains continued for the last three days, turning the weather cold.

The heavy snowfall and downpour disrupted electricity supply to various areas of the district, adding to hardships of people.

L ocals said in Kariz Kot Gangikhel area of Wana that boundary wall of the mud house of Sifatullah Wazir collapsed on Wednesday morning due to heavy rain. Fortunately, no casualty was reported.
