1,993 lecturer posts vacant in Punjab public colleges

SAHIWAL: At 780 public colleges all over Punjab, there are 1,993 open positionsforlecturers of different subjects. According to information from the Punjab Higher Education Department (HED), there are 535 male colleges and 1,457 female colleges with open positions.
According to subject statistics, there are 125, 71, 99, 20, and 123 Urdu, political science, physics, Pakistan Studies, Islamiyat, and computer science vacant posts in male colleges. There are 115, 40, 6,27,152, 230, 31,138, 42,150, 32,129, 123, 20, 27, 46, and 41 vacant positions inwomen`s colleges in biology, botany, civics, commerce, economics, English, history, home economics, library science, maths, Pakistan studies, political science, psychology, Seraiki language, social work, sociology, statistics, and zoology.
The PPLA has urged that vacant posts be filled by the Punjab Public Service Commission, and that the HED end its ad hocism. Nowadays, unfilled positions are replaced through CTIs for seven to eight months.
ARRESTED: The Pakpattan police arrested on Sunday Sarwar and Asad, both nominated in the killing of Sarwar`s two brothers, mother, sister-in-law, sister and two nephews over a land dispute invillage Bari Rakh on Depalpur Road on Saturday.
The police said both suspects were arrested in Attock as they were on their way to take shelter in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa`s erstwhile tribal areas.
The Pakpattan Sadar police registered a murder case on the complaint of Muhammad Aslam under sections 302, 324,148, and149 of the Pakistan Penal Code against Sawar, Asad, and three unidentified people.
Funeral prayers for the seven murdered people were offered in the village of Bari Rakh after the police handed over the bodies to family members after autopsies.
The police said there was a disputeover 48 acres among brothers Sarwar, Iftikhar and Shehryar. Sarwar accused his Iftikahr of illegally transferring more than 25 acres to his name.
The deceased included Iftikhar, his wife Asia Bibi, his two children, Ahad and Ahmed, his sister Muftah Bibi, his mother Basherain Bibi, and his younger brother Shehryar. Asad`s niece Ayesha was critically injured.
Inspector General Dr Usman Anwar took notice of the killings and directed the Pakpattan police to arrest killers in a day.
The police said they were investigating whether some other collaborators were involved in the brutal killing or not.
