KARACHl: Two suspected robbers were gunned down and their female associate was arrested after an alleged encounter in North Karachi on Thursday, officials said.

Central SSP Dr Mohammed Imran Khan said that at around 4am, a bike patrol police team from PS Khawaja Ajmair Nagri received information about the presence of suspects at a shop near Hameed School.

`The police team, along with the SHO, immediately reached the spot and attempted to apprehend the criminals,` the senior officer said.

However, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police party. `The police team responded in a prompt and measured manner; during the exchange of fire, two criminals were eliminated, while their female accomplice was arrested`, he said.

During the initial investigation, it was revealed that the same suspects had committed a house robbery on March 20 within the jurisdiction of PS Khawaja Ajmair Nagri, he added.
