LAHORE: Lowered demand because of pleasant change in weather and enhanced generation has ended forced and considerably reduced scheduled power loadshedding all over the country, officials in the National Power Control Centre said on Wednesday.
They nevertheless said distribution companies were managing the meagre shortage of power by resorting to scheduled loadshedding which too was negligible.
The generation on Wednesday was 14,500MW as against the demand of 15,000MW, a senior official said.
“The quantum of power loadshedding at the moment is negligible,” he said.
He attributed the improvement in demand and supply to the current temperatures lowered by rain and thunderstorm in the past few days and enhanced power generation.
The situation would further be improved by the start of the next month with the functioning of two IPPs [independent power producers] closed for regular maintenance. Hydel power production had now been enhanced to 200MW and this would go to 7,000MW in June meaning thereby that there would be no power loadshedding.
