KARACHl: A man was shot dead by robbers at the Shah Faisal Colony flyover within the remit of the Sharafi Goth police station early on Saturday morning, police said.

Area SHO Sadarudin Mirani said that Nadeem Ahmed Khan, 55, was riding a motorcycle when armed muggers, also on a two-wheeler, intercepted him and forced him to stop. However, sensing danger he tried to speed away upon which the muggers fired at him and rode away.

He sustained a critical bullet wound in the chest and died on the spot, the SHO said.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medicolegal formalities.

The police said that it appeared to be an incident of robbery gone wrong. However, the muggers fled without taking any valuable from the victim.
