Two `robbers` killed in Dera Ismail Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two robbers were killed and one was injured in exchange of fire with locals, police said here on Saturday.

They said three armed robbers stopped two motorcyclists at gunpoint, snatched cash and the motorcycle from them, and fled the scene. After the incident, locals organised a `Chigha Party` (community response group) and, along with police, chased the robbers.

They said that in exchange of fire with locals, two robbers were killed and one was injured. They said that weapons were also recovered from robbers.

Meanwhile, a man identified as Yousaf was killed in Wanda Kareem village in Panyala area. Police registered a case against unidentified killers.

POLLS: Zainul Abedin won election for the slot of president of Peshawar High Court Bar Association, Dera Ismail Khan Bench. He got 339 votes against 297 votes of his rival Asad Aziz. Shah Fahad Ansari became vice president by getting 403 votes against his rival Mohammad Abdullah Baloch, who secured 235 votes.

Mohammad Mohsin Ali was elected secretary general with 448 votes as his rival Umer Farooq Bhittani obtained 189 votes. Faheem Ahmad Baloch became joint secretary of the association by receiving 445 votes against 185 votes of his opponent Atta Mohammad.

Sania Noor was elected finance secretary unopposed and Mehr Ali was also elected unopposed executive member for Pezu seat.

SYNDICATE: The 21st syndicate meeting of Dera Ismail Khan University of Agriculture was held here on Saturday with Vice-chancellor Prof Shakibullah in the chair.

The budget recommendations of the university for the financial years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 were presented in the meeting, which were unanimously approved and recommended to be sent to senate for approval.

The meeting also approved the pending evaluation reports including TTS faculty evaluation performance.

The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Higher Education Javed Iqbal, Additional Secretary Establishment Jamaluddin, Deputy Secretary Finance Syed Ibrahim Shah, Deputy Secretary Agriculture Fazal Rabi, representative of the chairman of HEC Prof Jahan Bakht, Registrar Abdul Basit Khan, Director Finance Johar Zaman, Lecturer Fakhruddin, Assistant Professor Arshad Jamil, and Assistant Director Admin Farjad Sikandar.
