Woman stabbed to death by son

LAHORE: A woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her son over a marriage issue in Baghbanpura here on Monday.

The police said that Asif, 35, allegedly attacked and injured his mother Razia with a sharp-edged weapon after heated arguments. The injured woman was taken to a hospital where she died. Police arrested the suspect who confessed to his crime and handed over the weapon used in the incident.

Cantonment SP Sarfraz Virk said the accused told investigators that his mother was creating hurdles in his marriage.

Police shifted the body for an autopsy and registered a case against the accused.

Some robbers intercepted Khalid Aziz near Doctor`s Hospital and looted cash and jewellery worth Rs1.9 million.THREE KILLED: Three men were killed in different incidents in the provincial capital on Monday.

Nawab Town police said 35-year-old Muhammad Farooq was administered some poisonous substance in Sunlcot Colony allegedly by his friends.

Muhammad Riaz told Dawn that his son Farooq was invited to dinner by Sohail alias Billa, Malik Imran and his wife.

He said he received a call from Sohail who informed him that Farooq was admitted to Lahore General Hospital because of his deteriorating condition.

Riaz said he rushed to the hospital where doctors told him that Farooq died due to consuming some poisonous substance.

Police have arrested Sohail and shifted the body for autopsy.

In the second incident, a labourer who had jumped from a plaza died after two-day treatment at a hospital.Rang Mahal Investigation Officer Muhammad Asghar said 40-year-old Afzal of Sheikhupura was an employee of shoe store owner Riaz at Shahalam Market. Riaz suspected Afzal to be a thief.

Afzal got worried and jumped from the fourth floor of the plaza on Saturday last and suffered injuries. He was taken to Mayo Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

Police have shifted the body for autopsy.

In another case, a man was shot dead allegedly by his rivals in Akbari Gate police precincts.

Police said 45-year-old Farhan alias Lada of Mohallah Kakezai was a member of Baba Hanifa gang. They said Farhan and Shahbaz Butt were rivals and would quarrel with each other.

On Monday, Shahbaz shot him dead and fled.

Police have shifted the body for autopsy and registered a case.
