Wood centre employees seek increase in salary

Bureau Report 2024-05-27
PESHAWAR: The employees of Pak-German wood working centre have said that the Small Industrial Development Board (SIDB) has increase salaries of its own employees and ignored them without any justification.

The wood working centre has been operating under SIDB but it has never heeded to the problems faced by the employees, according to a statement issued here on Sunday.

President of the wood working centre Murtaza Khan and general secretary Mohammad Shahid in their joint statement demanded of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and SIDBmanaging director to take notice of the `injustices` with them, especially denial of salary increase.

The union office-bearers warned that they reserved the right to launch a protest iftheirdemandwasnotmet.

They said it was their genuine demand and the SIDB deputy director had also pledged with the union in a meeting that their salaries would be hiked.

However, they said, SIDB had made 30 per cent increase in the salaries of their own employees but ignored the wood centre.

The union leaders said their centre supplied furniture to most of the government departments and was earning huge amounts every year.

However, they added, the wood group employees, who were the backbone of the centre, were unfortunately working on meagre salaries.
