SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Security forces on Monday night arrested a key member of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan during an intelligence-based operation in Kari Kot area of Wana tehsil, Lower South Waziristan.
According to security sources, the suspect identified as Noorul Amin was taken into custody from his residence and shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
The development comes amid a sharp uptick in militant activities across Lower South Waziristan, Upper South Waziristan and North Waziristan over the past one year, causing deep concern among local population.
Security officials report a rise in targeted killings, bomb blasts, kidnappings for ransom, armed assaults and attacks on security and police checkpoints across the region.
The arrest of Noorul Amin is being seen as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts and is expected to contribute positively to restoring peace and security in the area.
