Nationalist leaders refute minister`s claim

HYDERABAD: Leaders of the Jeay Sindh Rahbar Committee, having representation of various nationalist organisations, has refuted Sindh government`s claim of `proxies` involved in the May 20 violence in Moro.

Nawaz Khan Zaunr, Riaz Ali Chandio, Aslam Khairpuri, Dr Niaz Kalani, Sooriah Sindhi and others, in a joint statement issued here on Monday, repeated the demand for a judicial inquiry into entire episode.

`We are followers of G.M. Syed, and not part of any proxy,` they categorically stated.

They accused the PPP government of having hatched the conspiracy in the wake of successful struggle against proposed new canals. They said that peaceful activists were targeted and two of them were killed in Moro; even Lanjar House was torched to create an excuseforresortingto violence.

They deplored that the body of one of the violence victim, Irfan Leghari, was buried by police in violation of Sharia laws, which gave this right to heirs of a deceased person. They noted that Irfan`s was buried as an `unclaimed body`.

They said that while Rahbar Committee leaders were on their way to Bijarani Leghari village, they were approached telephonically by Naushahro Feroze, Hyderabad and Shaheed Benazirabad SSPs asking them to receive Irfan`s body, but were told that they would follow what his heirs would tell them.
