SAHIWAL: Jamaat-iIslami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has announced that his party will mark the anniversary of Pakistan`s successful nuclear tests on May 28 as `Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan Day` to honour the `architect` of the country`s nuclear programme, says a press release.

Addressing Alkhidmat Foundation`s `Bano Qabil` event here on Monday, Rehman regretted that attempts had been made in the past to malign Dr AQ Khan, adding those behind such tactics faded into obscurity, while the nuclear scientist`s legacy lived on.

`J1 remembers and honours the nation`sheroes. After our victory in the war against India, Pakistan has emerged stronger and more dignified. There is no doubt that Dr Qadeer played a pivotal role in making our national defence impregnable,` he stated.

`Israel and India should never dare to oppress the people of Gaza and Kashmir again. This is only possible if Pakistan grows stronger,` he said.

At the event, thousands of boys and girls appeared for tests to qualify for free IT and computer courses.

A 1 k h i d m a t Foundation`s SecretaryGeneral, Waqas Anjum Jafri, also addressed the event.
