B A H A W A L P U R : Lodhran District Monitoring Officer Dilshad Ahmed of the Punjab Election Commission summoned on Sunday State Minister Abdul Rehman Kanjoo on June 27 for alleged violation ofthe electioncode of ethics in the by-election for PP-224 (Lodhran).
According to a press release issued by the provincial election commission, the minister committed a violation of the code of ethics by participating in the election campaign of a candidate for PP-224 by-polls.
GOVERNOR: Punjab Governor and Chancellor Baleeghur Rehman during his visit to the Islamia University (IUB) on Sunday inaugurated a Hepatitis Free Clinic of 2022 at IUB`s medical centre.
Flanked by IUB ViceChancellor Prof Dr Athar Mehboob, the governor was briefed about the first-ever programme in any university in Punjab to eliminate hepatitis.
The programme covers 60,000 university students, teachers, adminis-trative staff and their families.
Later, the governor inaugurated the new building of the faculty of computing and an exhibition of artworks at the college of Art and Design. Mr Rehman urged the students and teachers to contribute to the collective development and prosperity. He said that the government was committed to transforming the land into a knowledge-based society.
He learned the university was working on Rs12 billion projects. The governor also chaired the oath-taking ceremony of the students` society.
The governor visited the site for the construction of the South Punjab Secretariat, additional ring road and the home economics college, he was briefed about the projects and funding requirements.
He also addressed a PML-N workers convention at Circuit House. In his address, the governor referred to the facilities being extended to the patients in the hospitals and assured to extend the route of Speedo buses to Ahmedpur East, Yazman and Lal Sohanra.
