TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of residents of the Cantonment Road, Shorkot, blocked the traffic at Tehsil Chowk on Sunday in protest against police for unlawfully arresting four people for resisting a land-grab attempt.

The protesters told the reporters that some days back, the land grabbers attempted to grab a plot of land of a citizen. When the locals offered resistance, the land grabbers opened indiscriminate fire, injuring four citizens. However, police booke d the plot owner and three others instead of registering a case against the land grabbers. Police arrested four victims too.

The demonstrators demanded sus-pension of SHO Muhammad Boota from service, alleging that he had backed the land grabbers. Police officers held talks with the protesters and told them that the district police officer had suspended Boota from service. At this, the protesters ended their protest.

TWO DIE: Two members of a family died and one woman injured critically when a trailer hit their motorcycle in the Nishatabad area of Faisalabad.

Rescue 1122 reported that all three persons belonged to Chak 133JB Bahadurpur. They were travelling on the link road of Chak 6-JB Borraywala when a trailer hit their motorcycle. As a result, all three of them fell on the road and the trailer ran them over. Two of them, identified as Muhammad Ali (30) and hiscousin Yasir Ali (17), died on the spot while Kiran Perveen (20), a sister of Ali, was critically injured. She was shifted to the Allied Hospital Faisalabad.

BODY: The Rescue 1122 recovered the body of a girl who had drowned in the Chenab river on Saturday.

Ayesha Bibi (10), the daughter of Liaqat Ali, a resident of village Pindi Qureshian of the Jhang district, along with a relative girl, Romana Saf dar (9), was bathing on river bank along with her parents when both of them slipped into the river and drowned. Romana`s body was recovered by the divers on Saturday evening; however, the search operation for Ayesha`s body had to be stopped due to the night. Ayesha`s body was recovered by the divers on Sunday.

FOUND HANGING: The body ofan underage hotel worker was found hanging from the ceiling fan of the hotel near Hockey Stadium on the JhangRoadofGojra.

The boy was identified as Ghulam Abbas (14), a resident of Chak 243GB, Kalyanpur. A chopper was also found at the crime scene. The hotel owner, Hafiz Muhammad Adnan, said he had gone to his village (Chak 249-GB) after closing the hotel.

When he returne d in the morning, he found the deceased`s body hanging from the ceiling fan.

Muhammad Shabbir, the father of the deceased, told the reporters that Gojra City police had arrested Abbas`s cousin, Khalil Ahmad, for investigation.

Police shifted the body to the tehsil headquarters hospital (THQ) for autopsy.
