Unicef opens clinic for children`s immunisation

LAKKI MARWAT: Unicef has opened a mobile clinic facility at the district headquarters complex at Tajazai to help improve immunisation of children especially those who have migrated to the district along with their parents from North Waziristan Agency.

Additional deputy commissioner Ihsanullah Khan and Marwat Qaumi Jirga head Haji Mohammad Aslam Khan cut the ribbon to launch the `Nonehal Clinic` facility on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, health experts said that immunisation was vital to protect children from diseases. They said that under the programme, the health workers would be able to go door to door to immunise children in the district.

`Now parents will not have to go to hospitals and health centres to get their children vaccinated as the Nonehal clinic will provide them the facility at their door-steps,` said a health official.

He said that the facility would also improve routine immunisation and would also be helpful in protecting children from diseases.

Another health official said that the immunisation protected up to three million children every year from various diseases.

On the occasion, district health officer, Dr Nek Nawaz thanked the Unicef for providing Nonehal clinic to the local health department. `The facility will ensure access of every child to vaccination and make the immunisation programme a success,` he added.

Unicef district health communication support officer Dr Irfan, internally displaced persons from North Waziristan, KPHI district support manager Ihsanullah, former MPA Zafrullah Khan Marwat, PTI leader Mansoor Kamal Marwat, JUI-F district chief Maulana Abdul Rahim and MNA Ameerullah`s brother Sadullah Khan were also in attendance.
