ISLAMABAD: US Secretary of State John Kerry has assured Foreign Affairs Adviser Sartaj Aziz that the United States is ready to improve and expand its partnership with Pakistan.
During an exchange of views on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting of Asean`s Regional Forum (ARF) in Vientiane (Laos) on Tuesday, Mr Aziz and Secretary Kerry discussed the regional situation, with special reference to Afghanistan, and agreed on the importance of promoting an Afghan-led reconciliation process, according to a press release issued by the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
The US secretary of state appreciated Pakistan`s efforts to eliminate terrorist groups in the tribal areas.
The two sides also reviewed US-Pakistan relations.
John Kerry said he would like to visit Pakistan soon to review bilateral cooperation and to discuss regional matters.
The ARF ministerial meeting, which was attended by 10 Asean members and 17 dialogue partners, ended on Tuesday.
